Introduction by Paul Cope
Having acquired my expertise in the field of corporate restructuring and insolvency through time spent at three of the largest and most well respected national and international law firms in the country, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, DLA Piper and Addleshaw Goddard, I formed Cope & Co in 2009 to provide you with a service that is unique in the current market place.
I have always believed that in order to be in a position to provide the best level of service and advice to clients, it is imperative that any firm has a good knowledge of exactly what each of its clients requires, with advice tailored to suit individual client's needs.
During my career I have advised major clearing banks together with a range of insolvency practitioners, accountants and businesses of all sizes. From the experience gained through acting for these and numerous other clients, I concluded that all clients would benefit from an alternative to the standard model of law firm providing advice in the field of commercial law, especially in relation to jobs where costs are restricted or realisations are low. I formed Cope & Co to fill a niche in the market in this regard.
Not knowing the true cost of legal fees until the end of a job is a frequent problem for lenders, insolvency practitioners and other clients, and daunting for companies facing financial difficulties which need urgent advice and assistance.
Cope & Co provides advice on all aspects of corporate restructuring and insolvency, and I am delighted to report that following a successful first year of trading in which the firm has established itself as a viable alternative to the larger firms providing similar services, we have been able to expand our offering to clients by establishing a Commercial Property practice which will add a new element to the services we are able to provide.
As before, we combine the advice we provide with a commitment to excellence, ensuring that we offer you a level of service expected from a large international firm at a pre-agreed, reasonable cost.
I always believed that this service would benefit all clients in need of restructuring and insolvency advice and, following our first year of trading, I am sure that the same principles will continue to underpin our restructuring practice going forward, together with our new commercial property team.
I hope that it continues to be the case that those clients and matters that previously were excluded from obtaining high quality advice in these areas are now able to obtain advice that can make a real difference to their businesses.
